Saturday 5th June

So we'd been in Chichester for too long and decided to hot foot it to Gosport. Our little helper Claire came along to make things happy and cheerful. The skipper learned how to steer a boat whilst drinking coffee:

Claire almost learned how to steer:

She even managed to miss this:

After anchoring up for a spot of lunch near Ryde pier, we finally set off for our intended destination of Gosport. Another Premier Marina, with the prospect of further dodgy sign-writing. We weren't dissapointed:

All in all, a good day. We even managed to perfect the carbonara recipe:

It's been a while, but we've been busy.

So, we left Newhaven and went back to Brighton.

It being a Bank Holiday weekend, the weather was awful, so we didn't sail anywhere. We did however buy and fit a new tiller extension.

This had it's first outing early on the Monday as we sailed to Chichester for our first taste of Solent Sailing on Bugsy.

Had a really good sail and arrived at Chichester Bar at about 2pm (that's a shallow bit of water, not a pub!). Never seen so many boats in one place at the same time. It was an interesting experience picking our way up the river. But well worth it. Chichester Marina is an inland marina. No seagulls! Trees and fields and proper birds and the views from the Chichester Yacht Club at sunset are stunning.
